If you have not stopped by the renovated Puget Park recently, you should head on down. (Corner of Proctor and 31st, right before the stone bridge). We have always frequented this park, but I was not crazy about my toddler careening down the steep hill to get to the play area or the big water hole that lived under the tire swing. (more…)
Ever wanted to learn to row or try crew?
The Commencement Bay Rowing Club has a recreational masters team, now practicing early Mon and Wed a.m.’s (5:30) and every other Saturday at 10:00 (as of April 2008). Masters basically means over 25. No experience is necessary, and this is a great way to get in a workout around a busy parenting schedule - you’ll be home before they wake up! (more…)
Last year we had a really great day picking out pumpkins for Halloween carving at Spooner Farms. This is one of those U-Pick places that goes all-out in the fall, with a corn maze (adult and toddler), pumpkin slingshot (we did not actually sling any pumpkins, but it was sure fun to watch!), a small hay maze, characters in costume and a snack bar with cider and other seasonal goodies. Oh yeah, and a great selection of pumpkins, too! (more…)
At Corina Cake Bakery, the answer is a resounding Yes! No matter how hard you are trying the rest of the time to model and teach your child good eating habits, throw caution to the wind at least once, as we did on Saturday, and just go have a big, huge, delicious piece of cake for breakfast. It’s too good to regret. (Okay, and not EVERY weekend, though it’s a tempting thought!) This would also be a great afternoon or evening stop for a special treat, and the cakes are great for special occasions. (more…)
