RIDE THE SANTA TRAIN!

Filed under: Places to go, Tacoma Related, Outdoors — Ruth @ 11:15 am

The Camp 6 Logging Museum at Point Defiance Park hosts one of the best holiday deals going - a $1 train ride with Santa. (Riders under 3 and over 99 are free).

This is WAY better than any Santa encounter at the mall - Santa joins the train en route and comes around to visit everyone on the train individually. No pressure to sit on laps, and last year Santa had fun flirting with some of the female passengers as well as visiting with the kids, so it really is fun for all ages!

Dress warmly, as the train is covered but open to the elements, and be sure to bring your flash if it’s all about the photo op - it’s dark in those woods! (more…)

STADIUM DICKENS FESTIVAL

Filed under: Places to go, Tacoma Related, Local Business — Ruth @ 10:58 am

The Stadium neighborhood Dickens Festival takes place today, Saturday, December 8. It looks like interesting entertainment at a number of locations in the district, including magicians, puppet shows, and some Victorian music. They are also advertising free carriage rides.

Come check it out! (Or if you miss it this year, stay tuned for next year.)

They are called Chammies, and they are made by a company called Polar Babies. Looks like they have a whole lot of other great Northwest-wear type fleece items (hats, gloves, coats, etc.) and a line of green-sounding diaper products too (hemp!) which look great, but I have not tried those and can’t vouch for them — anyone who has, please post a comment!
